Stephen Song
Facing a raise from Stephen Song in middle position, a player in later position moves all in for less than ten big blinds.

Song calls and says, "I run pretty good," so we will see.

Song: A♠Q♥
Opponent: A♥10♣

The flop comes Q♠8♣3♦, increasing Song's lead to a pair of queens.  Unfortunately for his opponent, the 4♠ turn and 8♠ river do not improve his hand, and he is eliminated in 46th place, with 45 places paid.

Stephen Song - 309,000

Event #1B: Gennadiy Kostrov Doubles Aces vs. Kings on the Bubble

Event #1B: $600 NLH Multi-Flight $500,000 Guaranteed

What looked to be the last hand of the night, during the hand-for-hand portion of play, Gennadiy Kostrov scored a huge double to put himself in contention for the Flight B chip lead.

Kostrov raised to 12,000 in early position, and Cheryl Sloane moves a stack of chips forward totaling around 70,000 on the button. Kostrov announces that he is all in, and Sloane clarifies that she already moved all in. So essentially, Kostrov has called her shove.  But none of that mattered because once the cards were flipped over, it was almost always going all in, regardless of who shoved first.

Kostov: A♣A♦
Button: K♣K♦

The board runs out 9♣6♦4♥J♣5♦, awarding Kostov a huge double up, and leaving Sloane with just five big blinds.

Gennadiy Kostrov - 345,000
Cheryl Sloane - 25,000

Michael Simoneau

Michael Simoneau seems to be on a great run, after eliminating two players in back to back hands.

Hand #1:

The first hand, there was a three way all in involving the following hands:

Simoneau (under the gun): A♠A♣
Louis Scianna (big blind - having both players covered): 9♣9♥
Mark Awalt (cutoff): Q♣10♦

The flop comes Q♥Q♠4♠ causing table mate David Carleton to say to Awalt, "You are so lucky, dude." To which Awalt responds, "Yeah, until the ace comes on the river."

The 2♦ on the turn does not change the hand, but when the A♦ does in fact arrive on the river the table errupts in shock.

"Wow dude, you so called that," Carleton says to Awalt, "Get back in here."  Awalt confirms he will be re-entering as he starts to head to the cage.

Michael Simoneau - 40,000
Louis Scianna - 25,000
Mark Awalt - Eliminated with option to re-enter

Hand #2:

David Carleton

The very next hand, David Carleton raises to 1,500 in early position. A player in later position calls, and Michael Simoneau moves all in from the big blind.

"Wish me luck," Carleton says as he moves his 11,500 in chips forward to call.

Carleton: J♥J♣
Simoneau: A♥K♥

The flop comes A♣Q♣9♠.

"Will it work if I call for a jack on the river?" Carleton asks, referring to the last hand when Mark Awalt predicted his demise on the river.

The turn is the 9♣ giving Carleton additional club flush outs.  But unfortunately, the river is the 3♥, and he is sent to the cage to re-enter.

Michael Simoneau - 55,000
David Carleton - Eliminated with option to re-enter

Zachary Baker

There are three players to see the J♦10♦7♥ flop. Zachary Baker checks in the big blind, a player in early position bets 2,000, the cutoff calls, and Baker moves all in for 8,150. After confirming the 8,150 total, the player in early position also moves all in, for around 12,000, and the cutoff laughs before shrugging his shoulders the folding.

Baker: 10♦5♦ (flush draw)
Early Position: J♥10♠ (two pair)

The Q♠ turn does not change the hand, but the 7♦ on the river gives Baker a flush to double up.

Zachary Baker - 23,500

In the final hand of the night, the bubble was burst in a massive pot, resulting in Tony Silbert taking the overall chip lead of all Flight A players.  Silbert had raised to 12,900 in the cutoff, and the player in the small blind called.

The flop came Q♣J♠9♣. The small blind checked, Silbert bet 42,000, and his opponent quickly moved all in for around 180,000. Silbert snap-called.

    Silbert:  J♣J♥
    Opponent: A♣Q♠

Unfortunately for the player in the small blind, he could not improve on the turn and/or river, and he was eliminated from play, while all the remaining players were left in the money.

    Robbins: J♥J♣

The inconsequential river was the 3♠, and Robbins was awarded the pot, while his opponent was eliminated from play.

Registration for the first of three  starting flights in Event #1 has come to a close. There were a total of 243 entries, which carves $128,790 out of the $500,000 guarantee for this event. Given that this event plays down to 12% of the field, play will conclude this evening when 30 players remain. Those 30 players will all be in the money, and guaranteed at least $1,200.

There will be two additional starting flights for this event. Day 1B takes place tomorrow (Saturday March 10th at 10am), and Day 1C is on Sunday March 11th at 10am.

All players that bag up chips over the three starting flights will return to play Day 2 on Monday March 12th at 11am.
