Giuseppe Pizzolato Wins the Foxwoods Mega Stack Challenge Main Event ($52,127)


Congratulations to Giuseppe Pizzolato, the winner of the December Foxwoods Mega Stack Challenge.

For his victory, Pizzolato takes home $52,127 and the Mega Stack Challenge trophy!

Matthew Stark Eliminated in 2nd Place ($36,066)

Matthew Stark has been eliminated from the Foxwoods Mega Stack Challenge Main Event in second place.

Stark and Giuseppe Pizzolato chopped up the remaining $10,000 in the prize pool as well.

Matthew Stark takes home at total of $36,066.

Alias Mourtadh Eliminated in 3rd Place ($22,302)

Alias Mourtadh has been knocked out in third place.  He takes home $22,302 for his portion of the chip chop.

Frank Meaney Eliminated in 4th Place ($30,724)

Frank Meaney has been eliminated in fourth place and takes home $30,724 for his portion of the chip chop.

Seunghwan Lee Eliminated in 5th Place ($36,355)

The final five players in the Foxwoods Mega Stack Challenge Main Event have come to an agreement on a chip equity chop, leaving $10,000 on the table for the eventual winner.

They have also lowered the blinds to 20 minutes per level to speed up play.

Seunghwan Lee was just knocked out in 5th place.  For his portion of the chip chop, he takes home $36,355.

Play to End One Level Early at the Mega Stack Challenge Main Event

Tournament officials have decided to end play on Day 1 at the conclusion of Level 16 instead of Level 17 in order to give players extra time to drive home in the winter storm.

Play will still resume on Sunday at noon as scheduled.

Anthony Serino is looking good on his promise to make back-to-back final tables.  Serino, who final tabled the $400 Mega Stack Challenge that wrapped up yesterday, is currently among the Main Event chip leaders with over 240,000 chips.

There will be no back-to-back Mega Stack Challenge victory for Tarun Gulati.  Gulati, who won the $400 No-Limit Hold 'em Mega Stack Challenge late last night for over $26,000, was just eliminated from the Main Event.

Overall, an excellent series for Gulati who we will see again in 2014.

Update from the Second Break at the Foxwoods Mega Stack Challenge Main Event

The players are now returning from their second break of the day in the $1,200 No-Limit Foxwoods Mega Stack Challenge.

No 3-Peat for Dave Stefanski this year in the December Mega Stack Challenge Main Event


At the 2011 December Mega Stack Main Event, Dave Stefanski chopped heads-up and took home $69,000.  Last year, Stefanski won the December Mega Stack Challenge Main Event outright for $52,359.

This year, however, there will be no three-peat for Stefanski, as he is unable to play the event due to a wedding.

We will have a new champion this series for the first time in three years!

The final 54 spots will finish in the money with first place taking home $30,944.

Day 1B of the $400 No-Limit Hold 'em Mega Stack Challenge Ends

Day 1B of the Foxwoods Mega Stack Challenge $400 No-Limit Hold 'em event has come to an end with 54 players remaining of the 281 that started play.

Bobby Corcione earned the $1,500 bonus as Day 1B chip leader with 318,500.  Michael Vela was second in chips today and pocketed $1,000.

The 21 survivors from Day 1A and the 54 from Day 1B will combine to form Day 2 on Friday starting at 11am.

The blinds will be starting on Day 2 at 1,500-3,000 with a 500 ante.  With 75 players remaining, the average chip stack is now 121,000.

Day 1B of the $400 No-Limit Mega Stack Challenge Underway!

Day 1B of the $400 No-Limiti Hold 'em Mega Stack Challenge is now underway.

Players start with 20,000 in chips and the first 12 levels are 30 minutes in length.

Day 1A wrapped up yesterday with 21 players remaining. The two fields will combine to form Day 2 on Friday. 

The chip leader at the end of Day 1B will earn a $1,500 bonus.  Second in chips will pocket $1,000.

There is a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool on this event.

Play Concludes on Day 1A of the $400 No-Limit $100K GTD Mega Stack Challenge

Day 1A of the $400 No-Limit Hold 'em event at the Foxwoods Mega Stack Challenge has concluded for the day.

We had a total of 173 entrants on Day 1A with 21 advancing to Day 2.

Pete Campo collected the $1,500 bonus for being the Day 1A chip leader with 539,000.  Joe Starratt took home the $1,000 bonus for finishing second in chips.

Day 2 will resume on Friday at 11am.

Day 1B will kick off Thursday at 11am.  Full chip counts and Day 2 seat assignments will be posted at the conclusion of Day 1B.
