$230 Mega Stack Update

It's 4:15pm and the $300 Mega Stack Final Table has recently finished.  Meanwhile, today's $230 Mega Stack plays on.  A total of 181 entrants entered today's tournament, and only 62 remain.  The top 21 players will get paid, and the field is currently playing 600/1,200 blinds with a 200 ante.

1st Place: Jason Haller ($15,000)

Jason Haller moved all in with [Qd][Jh] and was called by Edward Finlayson who held [Th][Tc].  It was a coin flip for the trophy, and Jason came out on top when the board fell [Ah][9d][Qc][8d][8h].  The stacks were counted down, and Jason had Edward slightly covered.  Jason will take home $15,000, the title, and the trophy for his efforts today.

After winning the tournament, Jason admitted to Edward that it was his first tournament.  Congratulations to all of the players today!

2nd Place: Edward Finlayson ($15,000)

3rd Place: John Quirk ($13,205)

4th Place: Milton Haughton ($13,205)

Four way deal struck

There remaining four players have agreed to a four way chop and will play for just the trophy and the title.  Here are the final payouts:

Jason Haller - $15,000
Edward Finlayson - $15,000
John Quirk - $13,205
Milton Haughton - $13,205

Milton Haughton doubles through John Quirk

Milton Haughton was all in preflop holding [As][Qh] and would need to get lucky as John Quick had called him with [Ah][Ks].  Luck was on his side when the flop fell [4c][3s][Qc].  Neither the [2c] turn or [6s] river brought the king John was hoping for, and Milton doubled through him to get to over 1,000,000 in chips.

5th Place: Brad St. Vincent ($5,750)

After a raise by Brad St. Vincent, John Quirk moved all in and Brad made the quick call.

John [Jd][9c]
Brad [Qs][Qd]

John would need some help to survive, and the [2h][Ts][9s] gave him outs to survive.  The [3d] was no help, but the [Jc] river gave John the winning two pair.  The stacks were counted down, and Brad had John slightly covered.

The next hand, Brad got the last of his chips in with [Td][4d] and ended up losing to John's [7s][5s].  Brad will collect $5,750 for his 5th place finish.

John Quirk celebrates as he hits the river

Brad St. Vincent doubles through John Quirk

Brad St. Vincent was all in preflop holding [Ac][Kc] and was in great shape to double up against John Quirk's [Ad][Qc].  The [2d][2h][5s] flop gave John some chop outs, but the [4d] turn and [2c] river kept Brad's ace king in the lead.  Brad will double up to just around 900,000.

6th Place: Andrew Lauer ($4,600)

Andrew Lauer was all in preflop holding [Ac][3c] and would need to improve against his opponent's [8s][8c].  The [2s][Js][Jc] gave Andrew a backdoor flush draw and running counterfit outs.  The [Td] on the turn meant Andrew was drawing to a ten or an ace, but the [6c] hit the river to send Andrew to the rail in 6th place.  He will earn $4,600 for his efforts.

Milton Haughton doubles through Andrew Lauer

Milton Haughton was all in preflop holding [As][Qh] against Andrew Lauer's [Qd][Jd].  The board ran out a clean [3c][Ad][6h][9h][Kd], and Milton will double up.

Andrew is left with 175,000 at 20,000/40,000 blinds.

7th Place: Fred Goldstein ($3,795)

Fred Goldstein was all in preflop holding [Ad][6h] and was up against Brad St. Vincent's [As][Jh].  The board ran out [2d][4s][Kd][5s][4h], and Fred was knocked out in 7th place, good for $3,795.

8th Place: Michael Lavoie ($2,991)

Michael Lavoie was all in preflop holding [Ah][9s] and was snap called by Jason Haller who held the superior [As][Kc].  All the remaining players folded, and Michael would need to catch a nine to survive.  The [2c][5c][4d] flop gave Michael four more outs to a chop, but the [Ts] turn and [Qc] river left Michael heading to the payout desk to collect his $2,991 for his 8th place finish.

Brad St. Vincent doubles through Edward Finlayson

Brad St. Vincent was all in preflop holding [Th][7c] against the [Ah][Qs] of Edward Finlayson.  Brad was in deep trouble after the [Qd][9d][9h] flop, but the [Kh] turn gave him a glimmer of hope with a gutshot straight draw.  Amazingly, the [Js] hit the river to give Brad the doubleup.

9th Place: Gary Konvelski ($2,314)

Gary Konvelski was all in preflop holding [Ac][Qs] and ran into Edward Finlayson's [Kh][Kc].  Gary flopped top pair on the the [Qh][7d][4s], but he failed to suck out on Edward when the turn and river came [Tc][Td].  Gary will earn $2,314 for his 9th place finish.
