$100K Day 1 In The Books, Lyford Leads Into Day 2

Event 1 (Day 1)
Level 17 (2,000/4,000/500)
Total Entries: 332
Players Remaining: 38
Chip Average: 175,000
Doug Lyford took control of the chip lead after the dinner break and has not given it up, bagging up 585,000 heading into tomorrow's Day 2 session where he will look to make the biggest score of his tournament career.
The first day of the Card Player Poker Tour is in the books and it's ended a little differently than we thought and predicted.

The pace of eliminations coming back from the dinner break had us thinking with near certainty that we would get into the money and even make a few pay jumps, but once the short stacks were sent to the rail, we hovered near the 40 player mark for much of the last two levels, ending Day 1 with 38 players, just two spots from the money.

While there will be a few players coming back with short stacks that may not end with a payday, Doug Lyford will certainly not have that concern as he bagged the biggest stack heading into tomorrow's Day 2 session, finishing the day with just under 585,000.

There isn't anyone even close to that number, as the next biggest stack belongs to Brian Strair who bagged 357,500.

Soukha Kachittavong rounds out the top three, as he bagged 348,000.

Don Lohr and Nick Palma each bagged above average stacks, while early leaders Ralph Macri and Stephanie Hubbard will come back with below the chip average after getting cut down over the last few levels.

A complete list of the remaining players chip counts will be posted to the Foxwoods Poker blog tomorrow morning before these players return to play down to a CPPT $100,000 GTD Event 1 Champion at 12 PM, featuring a live "feature" table and then a live streamed Final Table as well.

Tomorrow will also see two other one-day main events, with the $20,000 GTD Event 2 starting at 11 AM and the $10,000 GTD Omaha H/L 8B Event 3 starting at 12 PM.
