Donald Lohr Takes From Marsel Backa (Event #1)

It folded to Donald Lohr in the small blind who completed to 30,000.  Marsel Backa raised to 180,000, and Lohr called.  

Both players checked the [ad][ac][6c] flop.  

Lohr led for 125,000, Backa raised to 250,000, and Lohr called. 

Both players checked the [qs] river.  

Lohr rivered a straight with [jc][10c].  Backa checked his cards, sighed, and mucked them face down.  

Someone on the rail said, "He got there, he hit the straight."  

Lohr replied, "Where was I going?  I'm not going anywhere."  

Lohr is now sitting with 1,600,000 versus Backa's 800,000 in chips.  

Runner Runner Four Flush (Event #4)

A player in middle position limped in.  Action folded to the player in the cutoff who shoved all in.  James Dabkowski also shoved all in from the big blind, and the player in middle position folded.

The [9d][8d][2c] flop kept Dabkowski's pair of fives in the lead.  But the [ad] on the turn would give his opponent a pair of aces.  The [3d] river gave Dabkowski a flush and the cutoff was left crippled with only 2,500 behind at 15,000/30,000 blinds (5,000 ante).

Joe Hertel Knocks One Out (Event #1, Day 2)

The player on the button shoved all in and was called by Joe Hertel.

Button:  [5s][5h]

Hertel: [9c][9h]

Hertel was in the lead until the flop fell [10s][5c][3s] giving his opponent a set.  But that all changed when the [9d] came on the turn giving Hertel the bigger set.  The [2s] on the river did not improve his opponent's hand and Hertel would knock him out and chip up to 1,100,000.

The flop came [ac][jd][js] and both players checked.  The turn was the [7s] and again, both players checked.

When the river came the [5h] the big blind bet 30,000, and Wagner called.

The big blind announced that he had a five.  Wagner turned over [ks][kh] to take it down with his bigger two pair.

Dinner Break Tournament Updates

Event #1, Day 2 has just returned back from dinner break.  They are starting level 24 (10,000/20,000 blinds with a 3,000 ante).  There are currently 32 players remaining.

This event will play down to the final table or a total of four more levels tonight, whichever comes first.

Event #4 is currently on their dinner break for fiftenn more minutes.  They will return back to Level 21 (5,000/10,000 blinds with a 1,000 ante.)  There are 54 players remaining in this tournament and they will play down to a winner tonight.

Aces vs. Kings in Event #1, Day 2

A player in middle position raised to 46,000 and the player on the button smooth called.  With action on Charles Saleba in the big blind, he opted to raise to 170,000.  The player in the middle position shoved all in, and the button folded his hand.  Saleba quickly called and flipped over his cards showing [ad][as] and said, "Let's do this!"

The player in middle position turned over [kh][kd].

The board ran out [qd][10h][5c][3s][8s], awarding Saleba a full double up.  He is now sitting just shy of 800,000.

Venkatara Ganne Knocks One Out (Event #4 NLH Big Stack)

On a board reading [9h][7s][3h][6c], a player in early position shoved all in and Venkatara Ganne called.

The river came the [10s].  Ganne's two pair took down the hand and eliminated his opponent from play.

Dave Stefanski Takes a Hit

On a board reading [8h][7s][3h][kc], Dave Stefanski check-called a bet of 38,000 from a player in middle position.

Stefanski again checked when the [5c] came on the river.  His opponent bet 82,000, and Stefanski went into the tank.  After a moment of thinking it over, he opted to make the call.

His opponent turned over [5h][5s] having rivered a set of fives, and Stefanski mucked his cards.

Stefanski is now playing 300,000.

The remaining 85 players in Event 1, Day 2 are now on their first 15 minute break of the day.  Play will resume at Level 20 (4,000/8,000 blind with a 1,000 ante).

Jesse Kosko Picks Off River Bluff (Event 1, Day 2)

When the flop came [kc][9s][8d] it checked around to Jesse Kosko in the cutoff who bet 18,000.  Jeffrey Miller called in the big blind, and a player in middle position folded.

The turn came the [ks].  Miller checked, Kosko bet 20,000, and Miller called.

When the river came the [2d], Miller led out for 45,000.  Kosko went into the tank and after a minute or two, pushed a few stacks of chips forward to make the call.

"You're good," Miller announced as he turned over [qs][jc].  Kosko turned over [ah][7h] for ace high and the winning hand.

A player at the table that wasn't involved in the hand said, "Nice call, man."

Kosko is now sitting with around 380,000 in chips.

Boat Over Boat in Event #4

On a board reading [10s][5c][2d][10d][5h], Raymond Jones in the cutoff shoved all in for 6,550.  The player on the button went into the tank for a solid two minutes.  He shifted back and forth in his chair and after staring Jones down, eventually threw in a chip to make the call.

Jones turned over [kd][10c].  Seeing he was behind, the player on the button showed [5d][3d] and then threw his cards into the muck.

A player not involved in the hand then told the FoxwoodsPoker.com Blog that Jones had lost the previous hand when he got his aces cracked, and that this hand was him"bouncing back."

On a board reading [ks][9s][7d][ac][8d], Pat O'Brien checked in the big blind and a player in later position shoved all-in.

O'Brien went into the tank for a solid two minutes, and eventually threw in the chip to make the call.

O'Brien turned over [kc][2c], and his opponent instantly mucked his hand face down.  O'Brien said, "He raised the cutoff, I just didn't believe him."

Donald Lohr Apparent Chip Leader in Level 16

We are currently about half way through level 16.  Blinds are at 1,500/3,000 with a 500 ante.  Donald Lohr just knocked out yet another player holding ace-king versus his opponent's pocket jacks after hitting a king on the turn.

After perusing the remaining field (117 players remain at this time), Lohr appears to be the chip leader with 420,000.  The next closest stack appears to be just shy of 300,000.

Ryan Torgersen Doubles Twice

Shortly after cracking a player's aces with jack-five to double up, Ryan Torgersen shoved all in from under the gun.  Action folded around to the big blind who asked for a count.  Upon hearing the 8,700 total, the big blind threw in a chip to make the call.

Break Time Update

Official Event #1 Numbers Are In

Now that Level 9 has begun and registration is closed, we have an official count of entrants into Event #1.

Today, 571 runners entered into Flight 1C.  This number combined with the 604 from Flights 1A and 1B bring the grand total to 1,175 runners.

The Celebration Continues for Luigi Petrone

Just moments before the last break, familiar sounding shouts sounded throughout the Tournament Poker Room here at Foxwoods.  The FoxwoodsPoker,com Blog staff quickly turned around to see Luigi Petrone once again jumping out of his chair and celebrating (he had previously won a big hand and celebrated in a similar fashion).  This time he upped the celebration "dance" by running up and down the middle aisle of the casino and shouting so that the entire room could hear him, and at one pointed jumped up and down in a "leaping" motion.

According to Petrone, a player in early position had raised to 1,200 preflop.  Petrone called, and a player in late position made it 3,800.  Both the early position player as well as Petrone called.

When the flop came [kh][qh][5s], the early position player bet 5,000, Petrone made it 12,000, and the player in late position called.  With action back on the player in early position, he shoved all in for 24,000, Petrone shoved all in for 66,000, and the player in late position called.

The early position player had flopped two pair holding king-queen, Petrone had flopped  a set of fives, and the player in late position had flopped a flush draw.

The turn and river did not bring a king or queen, nor did it bring the flush.  Petrone has now chipped up to 169,200 and the celebration continues on.

William Morales Straightens Out

On a board reading [qc][qd][7d][10h], a player in the big blind bet 4,000 and William Morales called in late position.

When the [6h] river card was dealt, the big blind announced that he was all in.  Morales quickly put his remaining 4,000 in chips into the middle to make the call, while turning over [9c][8h] for the straight.  His opponent showed the [qh] and mucked his other card.

Morales is now sitting at 21,000 in chips.

Will Failla Knocks Out Three Players in One Hand

Will Failla raised to 3,650 and Chris Leong called in middle position.  A player in the hijack shoved all in for 4,000 more.  It folded to the player in the small blind who called and Failla also called. Leong shoved 19,000 effective and the small blind reshoved all in. Failla asked for a count of the small blind's chips as he had the most chips of any of the three all-in hands.  Upon hearing the total of 26,475, Failla thought about it for a moment before ultimately saying, "I cant't fold for that," and threw in the chips to call.

As each player turned over their hands Failla said, "I can beat that."

"It's good to be lucky," Failla said as he began stacking his newly acquired chips.

On a board reading [ks][10s][6d], Luigi Petrone checked in early position, a player in the cutoff bet 3,800, the player on the button raised to 10,600, and Petrone shoved all in for 11,100.  The player in the cutoff re-shoved over the top of Petrone and the button went into the tank.  He asked for a count of the cutoff's chips.  Upon hearing the 17,975 total, he sat back in his chair, thought for over two minutes, looked at his cards a few times, and ultimately folded [ad][kc] face up.

Petrone turned over [as][js] for a combination of royal, flush, and straight draws, and the cutoff turned over [qd][jc] for the straight draw.

The player on the button jumped out of his seat and said, "You've got to be kidding me," after seeing he folded the best hand on the flop.  But when the [qs] came on the turn he turned around and said, "Thank you," to no one in particular.

Upon seeing the royal flush he had just hit, Petrone began celebrating so that most of the room's attention turned to him.

The [8h] on the river was inconsequential, and Petrone shouted, "Ha!  Straight flush, ROYALE.  Straight flush ROYAL. Same thing. Queen of spades!"  He clapped his hands and continued celebrating as the dealer moved the chips towards him.

Event 1B Officially On the Books

Players are now bagging and tagging in flight B of the $600 No Limit Hold’Em Multi Day Event here at Foxwoods.  This flight finished with 20:001 minutes left in Level 17 (2,000/4,000 blinds with a 500 ante).  The 33 players from this flight will join the previous 40 players from yesterday's 1A flight.  A full list of chip counts from this flight will be uploaded to for you in a bit.

Je Wook Oh raised to 9,000 in middle position.  The small blind smooth called, and the big blind shoved all in for 22,500.  Oh reraised to 70,000, and the player in the small blind folded his hand.

The flop came [ad][5d][2c] keeping Oh in the lead, but that quickly changed when the [kc] came on the turn, giving his opponent a pair of kings.  Oh regained the lead when the [3h] came on the river to give him the straight and send his opponent home in 36th place, just four shy of making the money/Day 2.

Oh appears to be the chip leader in the room at the moment with just shy of 300,000.

Dinner Break Event Updates (1B & 3)

Event 1B ($600 NO LIMIT HOLD’EM MULTI DAY EVENT) is just about to go on dinner break, and Event 3 ($300 PLO HI / LO 8+ “With Re-Entries”) has 40 minutes left on their dinner break.

There are currently 74 players remaining in 1B, and they will be returning to 1,000/2,000 blinds with a 300 ante.  Flight 1B registration is closed and there were 273 entrants today.

Event 3 had 48 total entrants and there are currently just 12 remaining.  They will be coming back to blinds of 800/1,600.

Dave Lane Eliminates One

A player under the gun raised to 2,500.  Dave Lane was next to act and reraised to 6,000.  The original raiser said, "I am putting you on ace king, I call."

When the flop came [ah][2h][7s], the original raiser checked, Lane bet 15,000, and the player raised all in for nearly 40,000.  Lane thought for a moment and said, "I don't think you have an ace since you put me on ace-king pre-flop, I call."  Lane turned over [ks][kc].  His opponent showed [qh][jh] for a flush draw.

The turn and river did not improve his opponent's hand, so Lane would eliminate the player and chip up to just around 100,000.

Quad Jacks for Dale Phillips in Event #3 ($300 PLO HI LO 8+ With Re-Entries)

On a board reading [kh][jd][2c][js], Dale Phillips checked in the small blind and the player on the button announced, "pot," effectively putting himself all in.  Phillips quickly called.

Phillips showed [jc][jh][8c][6s], having turned quad jacks.

The [7c] came on the river and after counting out the chips carefully, it was determined that the player on the button had 100 remaining.  Phillips said to him, "I didn't reraise you, so you still have a chip left."  The player asked the dealer if there was still time to rebuy and upon hearing that the rebuy period was closed, the player opted to keep his single 100 chip, and threw his cards into the muck face down, never having exposed his hand to the table.

There are 36 players remaining in level 5 of Event #3, and the blinds are currently at 100/200.

On a board reading [10c][8c][6h][2h], a player in early position shoved all in and Michael Dobbs quickly called.

Dobbs had flopped a set holding [6d][6c] against his opponent's turned two pair holding [10d][2d].

The [8s] on the river gave Dobbs the full house and sent his opponent to the rail.

George Colli's Huge Quadruple Up

In a huge pre-flop betting war, there were four all-ins preflop on the Foxwoods feature table (streaming live at www.foxwoodslive.com).

(The player in middle position Joe Chividian announced that he folded pocket tens in the midst of all of the betting and raising).

The flop came [10c][7s][4s] to which Chividian sighed out loud as he would have flopped a set of tens, but had folded preflop.  The [kc] on the turn and [jc] on the river gave Cournoyer a pair of kings, which was enough to scoop the side pot.  But Colli's pair of aces would award him a full quadruple up and he is now sitting with around 45,000.
