While Day 1A moves along in the back of the tournament area the second Event 1 flight is growing fast in the front right beside.

Andrew Zhu is among the early arrivals and he is fresh off a win. Zhu took down the 274 entry field in last weeks Borgata Fall Poker Open $230 Deepstack NLH event earning $11,301 and the trophy.

Iakovos Gerakos

The Day 1A Event 1 field is thinning down and there plenty of big stacks starting to emerge. There are just 90 players remaining and it's Iakovos Gerakos leading the way.

Gerakos is currently sitting behind a mountain of about 210,000 but there are a handful of players right on his heels.

Pat Grella

Iakovos Gerakos raised to 4,000 from late position and Pat Grella moved all in from the button for 14,300. The player in the big blind re-shoved all in for about 25,000 and Gerakos called putting both players at risk.

The dealer fanned the Q♦️10♥️8♣️ flop and Grella spiked his queen in the window to take control of the hand. The Q♥️ hit the turn and Grella let out a fist pump as he improved to quad queens leaving both players drawing dead.

The meaningless 2♣️ hit the river and Grella more than tripled his stack thanks to the lucky ladies.

Event 1B ($600 NLH): Second Event 1 Flights Kicks Off at 4 P.M.

There were 203 entries in the first flight of the Foxwoods Mega Stack Challenge $600 NLH $500,000 Guaranteed event. If you missed the first flight Day 1B is right around the corner.

The second Event 1 flight kicks off at 4 P.M. and will feature a turbo structure. Players will begin with 25,000 non-value tournament chips and Levels 1-8 will last 20 minutes. Levels 9 and up will be 30 minutes.

Payouts of $1,200 will begin at 12% of the field and we will play down to approximately 10% of the field.

There were 203 entries here in our first flight and the final 25 Day 1A players will all make the money and be guaranteed at least $1,200 for their efforts.

Day 1A will come to an end when there are just 21 players remaining at which time the players will bag and tag their chips and return Monday December 3 at 11 A.M. to resume Day 2 play and play down to a winner.

Luke "Platinum Pass Slayer" Vrabel

Luke Vrabel was among the latest wave of players to join the field just before the break and he wasted no time putting his chips to work.

Vrabel and his opponent were heads-up on the Q♣️10♣️6♦️8♥️Q♥️ board when all of the chips went in the middle.

Vrabel showed J♥️9♣️ for a turn straight and his opponent flashed Q♦️K♦️ for trip queens before firing his hand into the muck. Vrabel scooped the pot and has already doubled up to over 50,000.
