Event 19 Update

There were 61 entries so far today, and currently there are 52 remaining.  Players are in the middle of level 5 (150/300 blinds with a 25 ante).  

Registration is open until the start of Level 11 (start of Day 2).  There is also a Flight B that will be held tomorrow (Saturday Oct. 17th) at 11am.  

Day 2 will be held on Sunday at 11am, and Day 3 on Monday at 11am.

Aces Full for Kurt Lichtman

After the river card came on a board reading [ah][6s][4s][kd][kh],  Kurt Lichtman bet 3,700 and Peter Sennon tank-called.

Lichtman turned over [ad][ac] and Sennon showed the case ace holding [as][js].

Lichtman is now sitting with 28,000.

"Bobby the Bus" Knocks One Out

"Bobby the Boss"
On a board reading [7d][5s][kd][qc] a player in middle position had shoved all in and Bobby the Bus called.

"The Bus" turned over [5d][5h] for a flopped set against his opponent's [kh][qh].

The [6h] on the river did not improve his opponent's hand and he was elliminated.

"The Bus" is now sitting with 40,000 in chips.

"You Guys Are Just Too Good"

On a board reading [ad][5c][7h][qd][qh], Matthew "Bucky" Wantman had bet 10,000, and Christopher Macneil had shoved all in.

Wantman went into the tank.  After a minute of thinking it over he said, "nice hand," as he mucked [5h][5d] face up into the middle.  Macneil turned over [ac][ah].

"I also thought you might have had ace-queen," Wantman said.

Another player not involved in the hand said, "I want a table change, we've got Bucky over here just folding boats. You guys are just too good"

Event 19A ($2,700 NLH Championship) Early Update

Event #19 ($2,700 NLH Championship) has officially kicked off.  This event has a starting stack of 30,000 and features 60 minute blind levels.

This is sure to be a star-studded event.  At the present moment a few of the notables in the field include Je Wook Oh, Stanley Lee, Matthew Wantman, "The General", Johanssy Joseph, and Dave Stefanski.

At the present moment there are 36 entrants.  Anyone wishing to enter/re-enter has until the beginning of the 11th Level to do so.

The flop came [10h][8c][7d] leaving Campion in the lead but giving Parizo a gut-shot straight draw.

The [4d] did not improve Parizo's hand.  But the [5s] on the river gave him the straight he needed to survive and he was awarded a full double up to 350,000.

Both Patel and Parizo checked in the dark.  The river came the [7h].

Patel turned over [10s][6s] for the flush, Parizo mucked his cards face down, and Chen showed [2s][2c], having flopped a set of twos.

Patel is now sitting with 850,000 and Parizo with 250,000.

Marcel Parizo limped in from the hijack and Chris Korres shoved all in from the cutoff.  Parizo called.

Korres was ahead holding [10c][10d] against Parizo's [ah][3c].  But the flop came [as][jh][5s] reversing the lead.  Korres would need help on the turn and/or river in order to prevent being eliminated from this tournament.

The [5c] turn and [2d] river did not provide Korres the help that he needed and he was sent home in 8th place.

Marcel Parizo Doubles Through Chris Korres

On a board reading [jc][jh][ks][8c], Marcel Parizo was all in and was called by Chris Korres.

Parizo had turned a straight flush draw holding [9c][10c].  Korres was ahead on the turn holding [jd][10h] for trip jacks.  But the [3c] on the river gave Parizo the flush he needed to stay alive in the tournament and he was awarded a full double up.

Parizo is now sitting with 350,000, and Korres with just a bit over 100,000.

Huge Pot - Three Way All In - Event #16


On a board reading [qh][5d][kc], Mackenzie Kraemer checked in the big blind, Paul Siegel bet 40,000 in the hijack, Rob Campion raised to 140,000 in the cutoff, and Guy Bartlett shoved all in on the button.  Kraemer folded his blind, Siegel shoved all in, and Campion did as well.

Chris Korres' Upward Climb (Event #16 $400 Big Stack Freezeout)

There were five to see the flop in an unraised pot.  All five checked when the flop came [7s][5c][4c].  The small blind checked the [7d] turn, the big blind bet 4,000. Chris Korres called in the hijack and the small blind also called, the other two players folded.  When the [8c] came on the river, the small blind led out for 9,000.  The big blind called, as did Korres.  The small blind announced, "straight," but didn't show his cards.  The big blind turned over [10c][3c], but Korres turned over [qc][jc] for the higher flush.  Korres took down the pot and is now sitting with 175,000 in chips.  Average is 75,000.

On a board reading [3d][8d][js] Michael Dobbs checked in the hijack, Randy Spain bet 95,000 in the cutoff, and Johnny Lau shoved all in on the button.  With action back on Dobbs, he reshoved for more and Spain released his hand.

When the flop came [qh][6c][3c], her opponent moved even further into the lead after flopping a set.  But Swears turned a flush draw when the turn came the [2h].  Unfortunately for Swears, the [10s] river did not bring the flush and she was sent home in 21st place.

Gerald Aiello Takes One Down (Event #16 $400 NLH Freezeout)


A player in middle position raised to 2,000 and Gerald Aiello called in the small blind, as well as the player in the big blind.

Both blinds check-called a bet of 3,000 from the player in middle position when the flop came [ad][js][4d].  All players checked the [kh] turn.  When the river came the [10h], Aiello bet out 11,000.  The big blind folded, and the player in middle position tank called.

Aiello turned over [as][qd] and the player in middle position mucked his cards face down.

Haralambos Saridis Triples Up (Event #15)

Haralambos Saridis

Haralambos Saridis shoved all in from under the gun.  Dayo Ajao shoved all in for less in the cutoff, and the player on the button called both of the all-ins.

Saridis had a commanding lead holding [qd][qh] against Ajao's [8h][8c] and the button's [9d][9c].

When the flop fell [ad][8d][ks], Ajao would take the lead with his set of eights.  The [6d] on the turn gave Saridis a flush draw, but Ajao was still in the lead.  It wasn't until the [7d] came on the river, where Saridis  hit his flush to triple up.

Ajao was eliminated and Saridis chipped up to 140,000.

Both players checked the [qh][7c][3d] flop.  When the [8c] came on the turn, Kang bet 31,500, and his opponent shoved all in.

Kang went into the tank and talked aloud to himself about the hand.

"I have ace queen.  We either chop or you have kings here. "  He continued to talk aloud and after nearly two minutes he eventually called.

Kang turned over [ad][qs].  His opponent said, "Good call," as he turned over [jd][jc].

The [kd] on the river did not improve his opponent's hand and he was sent to the rail.

Kang is now sitting with 130,000 in chips.
